Shares in PSA Peugeot Citroen were down close to 5 per cent at 0740 GMT on Wednesday after the struggling French carmaker confirmed it had negotiated up to 7 billion euros (US$9.1 billion) of state support for its finance arm as it posted a drop in quarterly sales.

The stock touched its lowest level since 1986, according to Reuters data. It is down 48 per cent this year, compared with an 18 per cent gain for the European autos and parts sector. — Reuters
