The Yogitree, in my not-so-humble opinion, is the single top reason to make the trip to The Gardens. Sure the mall is nice and there are some unique shops to enjoy but nothing a patch on the wholesome and tasty meals and relaxing ambience at this cool, boutique restaurant with a difference.

The quirky menu explains each of their numerous dishes as it goes, informing the diner that even the baked beans and pasta are homemade on site and that they have made every effort to keep things authentic and natural. The word ‘organic’ appears throughout and various small touches like them shallow frying rather than deep frying the children’s meals (it’s very family friendly by the way, with new healthy kid’s specials all the time) and grilling their cooked breakfasts also helps add to the healthy edge. Although we’d expect no more from a place that is part-restaurant/part-yoga shop. I did say it was different.

The breakfast actually wasn’t that spectacular. My eggs were over-cooked (For future reference: sunny side up means runny, please) and I could have done with more than one sausage and no potato element for my RM28. However, it was still above average and the vegetarian one was superb.

My friend went with the spaghetti carbonara (we timed the visit for one of those tricky early-lunchtime Sundays so were torn over what to order), which I sampled and have to confirm their opinion that it was just perfect. Brilliant home-made pasta, gorgeous sauce (with no cream — thumbs up for that, too) and damn fine crispy bacon. It was, I felt, as good as any lunch you could want.

Or at least, so I thought until I tasted my partners pumpkin soup. Wowee! Sensationally prepared it is the best I’ve had in a restaurant. It’s worth returning just for this.

So, three (and a half) out of four on the mains and that gave us just the inspiration we needed to have a dessert. Well, you feel you’ve earnt it after so much healthy stuff.

Now, this was where The Yogitree came into its own. I’m not going to spoil it by describing the crumbles, cakes, and tiramisu in any huge detail as I could never do them justice but they were so good that I have requested The Yogitree be entered forthwith into the TOKL Food 40. Nuff said. YP Lee
