Kuah Harbour’s spirit will be re-ignited again from January 7th to 12th 2013 as the eleventh Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR 2013) commences with five days of great racing, exclusively designed for yacht enthusiasts.
Over forty yachts are expected to participate in this annual yachting event, which commenced in 2003 in the mystical islands of Langkawi, well known for its duty-free status.Weather conditions in Langkawi are expected to be ideal for next year’s regatta. “The wind speed in January always fluctuates between 8 – 20 knots and the wind conditions will be the same for the next five days.
The Kuah Harbour race and Coastal race always provide two different scenarios for sailors. Here have strong wind conditions with flat waters at the Kuah Harbour, as well as strong wind conditions with choppy waters in Coastal areas. All participants can look forward to a challenging and fascinating sailing experience.
It has been a tradition every year that fun does not end with the races, the RLIR 2013 organising team is promising daily, fun-filled prize-giving parties. Teams participating in the RLIR 2013 will compete for the Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy (for Racing Class yachts), the Commodore’s Challenge Cup (for participants of clubregistered cruisers), the LADA-IRC Challenge Trophy (for participants of the IRC 1 Class), the Langkawi Sports Trophy (for participants in the Sports Boat Class) and the Malaysian Multihull Challenge Cup (for participants under the Multihull category).
