KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) has teamed up with Academy of Scientific Research and
Technology (ASRT) of Egypt to undertake various initiatives towards the development of technology businesses in that country.
MTDC chief executive officer, Norhalim Yunus said the collaboration is part of the corporation’s international initiative to promote cooperation in technology transfer and commercialisation with several countries especially from
the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
“Egypt is poised to grow economically, besides being an important gateway to the Northern African markets,” Norhalim said after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with ASRT, here today.
He said the objectives of the collaboration include the transfer of knowledge and expertise to relevant national agencies in Egypt.
It also include the provision of advisory services to develop
government-backed tecnology commercialisation ecosystems; assist in plannning and implementation of market-driven technology commercialisation and technopreneurship programmes; and promote and strengthen bilateral and multilateral programmes for technology transfer and commercialisation, he said.
Professor Maged Al-Sherbiny, Assistant Minister of Scientific Research of Egypt and ASRT President, said Egypt is relatively new in implementing and managing government-backed national skill programmes in technology transfer, commercialisation and development of technopreneurs.
“This collaboration opens vast opportunities for both parties to explore the whole range of developmental stages at the technology business ecosystem,” he said. — BERNAMA
